Maya at a glance
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Operated by | Maya Philippines, Inc., whose earlier names were PayMaya Philippines and, at the start, Smart Money |
| Regulated by | Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas |
| Wallet limit | Basic is limited to PHP 50,000, Upgraded to PHP 100,000 per month, Super Users to PHP 500,000 and Ultimate Users to PHP 5,000,000 |
| Per-transaction cap | PHP 20,000 is the Upgraded-tier cap per transaction when sending to another Maya user, and PHP 50,000 per day is the Upgraded-tier cap on InstaPay transfers out |
| Settlement | wallet-to-wallet and InstaPay transfers arrive in real time, while PESONet arrives on the same banking day |
| Published fees | The statement on Maya’s cash-in page is that, via selected partners, the first PHP 8,000 per month combined is free and the excess is charged 2 per cent. Treat that figure as lighter evidence than the GCash schedule above: that schedule was read directly, but this figure, from Maya’s own site, was not re-fetched during verification. |
Maya states these as MONTHLY wallet limits. GCash expresses its ceiling as the balance held at any one time. A side-by-side comparison of the two numbers means nothing because they measure different things, however often it is presented as one.
2026-09 is when these figures were recorded, and they stand for that moment only. A provider can revise its limits and fees without notice, which leaves its own page as the only current source.
How fast money actually moves
Maya settles wallet-to-wallet and InstaPay transfers arrive in real time, while PESONet arrives on the same banking day. What is described here is the rail and not the casino: before a withdrawal ever reaches Maya, an operator can hold it for its own review, and the waiting time usually comes from that review.
A per-transaction cap of PHP 20,000 is the Upgraded-tier cap per transaction when sending to another Maya user, and PHP 50,000 per day is the Upgraded-tier cap on InstaPay transfers out applies, which is why a larger transfer sometimes has to be split.
What Maya says about gambling transactions
Maya’s e-wallet terms and conditions were read directly; they prohibit illegal activity and anti-money-laundering breaches in general terms and contain no gambling clause. Restricted transactions in the terms of its CREDIT CARD, a separate product, do include ‘illegal gambling or unauthorized game of chance’, and the card’s suspension or cancellation is the stated consequence. BSP Memorandum M-2025-029 covered Maya as well in August 2025, and the wallet removed in-app gambling and gaming links as a result. A credit card agreement’s restriction does not extend to the wallet, so the two products must be kept distinct.
Verification tiers
- Basic — PHP 50,000 is the limit on the wallet each month, and also the limit on purchases each day. Both bank transfers via InstaPay and sending to other Maya users are ruled out at this tier
- Upgraded — A video selfie, a valid ID and a verified address must all be supplied. PHP 100,000 per day for purchases, PHP 100,000 per month as the wallet limit, InstaPay out at PHP 50,000 per day and PHP 100,000 per month, and sends to a Maya user capped at PHP 20,000 per transaction and PHP 100,000 per day
- Super Users — PHP 500,000 is the monthly wallet limit, and PHP 500,000 also caps both purchases and sends each day. Maya publishes nothing on what qualifies an account for this tier
- Ultimate Users — The wallet limit is PHP 5,000,000 per month, and the daily limits on purchases and sends stand at PHP 5,000,000 as well. Maya publishes nothing on what qualifies an account for this tier
The published ceiling of Basic is limited to PHP 50,000, Upgraded to PHP 100,000 per month, Super Users to PHP 500,000 and Ultimate Users to PHP 5,000,000 applies to the tier stated above, not to every account.
